I get it if it's not your thing, that's cool, but people really shit a brick over it in here and it just doesn't make sense to me. There is a hate train that runs through this sub for a lot of the 90s/early 2000s era reggae/dub/rock music. They might not be everyone's favorite band but there isn't some universal disdain for their music. The only place I've ever seen a lot of hatred for Sublime is right here on reddit in this sub. Eventually my taste in music shifted towards more indie and electronic, which I guess could also be attributed to that radio station too. I wouldn't say I necessarily hate Sublime, but I think it was because of that radio station that I never was interested in checking their other songs out. I figured the throwback weekends would stop eventually, but I'm pretty sure they're still going on. It was like they had one playlist for those weekends and would play it on repeat.

Of course it was always the same radio-friendly Sublime songs. It got to the point that I'd hear them on the radio and think 'ugh, not this song again'.

After a while I stopped listening to them (and other bands: 311, STP, Alice in chains, bush, among others) in my free time on my iPod because I knew I'd hear them on the weekend, and it was just starting to get old. I used to like them, not super like them to the point I'd buy their albums, but when they came on the radio I'd enjoy listening.īut then my old alt-rock station went on a 'way back weekend' phase where literally every other weekend they'd just play old 90s songs, which was great at first, but it went on for years.
