Your $200 Office Depot special is fine for an hour or two, but if you use it heavily and are built like someone more substantial than a runway model, that piece of plastic crap will wear out on you. What you're really looking for in an office chair that you're going to spend 8 or more hours a day in is something rock fucking solid. It boils down to materials, quality of construction, adjustability, and ergonomic viability.
"BUT UNREAL, THAT'S MORONIC! Who would pay such a princely sum for what is merely a hindquarters holder?!?"Ĭalm down Nancy, there's a reason for the price tag. New stuff will hover around $800 depending on model or options. If you want a good chair - and by good I mean "10-12 year warranty, ergonomically sound" then you will pay at minimum, $500 or so for a used chair (*With one notable exception, sorta). Known Good Brands are Herman Miller (Aeron, Mirra), Steelcase (Leap), Humanscale (Freedom), and sorta Ikea (Markus).īefore I go on, let me tell you some bad news. Tldr: Acquire warranty, build quality, adjustability, ergonomics, disregard Office Supply Stores. This is pretty long and fully ramblomatic though, so lemme just do this: Join our Discord server Design Subreddits LIST Please report any posts which break these rules, to maintain the quality of the subreddit.
